Labour Councillor Marie Pye has got agreement from Waltham Forest Council for a huge increase in the money available for Community Councils to spend on local priorities.  £230,000 will now be available each year for local people to spend on local priorities.  Every single local ward in Waltham Forest will have £10,000 available and there will be additional money to spend across each Community Council area.

At Community Council meetings local people will be able to put forward their priorities for spending this money and then look at the various projects and options for meeting those priorities.

Marie said " The Labour Government has very clear policies that local people should be much more involved in identifying local priorities and I really pleased that in Waltham Forest we are able to put our money where our mouth is.  I'm really looking forward to hearing from local people at Community Council meetings about what their priorities are and then seeing projects in place to make the improvements they want to see".
